Lena Dunham confronted Howard Stern following his comments about her weight on his show. Stern had said the “Girls” star was “a little fat girl who kinda looks like Jonah Hill, and she keeps taking her clothes off, and it kind of feels like rape.” But Stern backtracked, praising Dunham and the show. “I realize: Not only am I addicted, but I totally get you,” he told her when she dialed in yesterday just days after winning two Golden Globes. “I’m in love with you and your character.” But Stern wouldn’t take back his weight comments. “It’s not about apologizing, although I want to say I’m a fan of yours,” he said. Despite the criticism, Dunham said she’s a fan of Stern’s “particular brand of free speech,” and insisted, “I appreciate your effort to rectify [this], but whether you’d done that or not, I’d have remained a [Stern] enthusiast.” Dunham also defended herself. “I’m not that fat,” she said. “I don’t mean to take major issue with you about this. I’m not super-thin, but I’m thin for, like, Detroit.”
