Blazing return of famed club Marquee

The reopening of famed club Marquee had everything we’ve come to wish for in New York night life: underwear-clad dancers, near-naked dwarves and flaming fur coats. The drama started upon arrival when socialite Dori Cooperman flung off her $10,000 Peter Som fur coat — throwing it onto a light shining up on the floor — to pose for photographers. Just seconds later, the pungent smell of burned fur filled the air. A quick-thinking staffer grabbed the fur and swatted out the sparks. Guests enjoying music from DJ Vice and Susanne Bartsch’s scantily clad dancers included Marc Anthony with girlfriend Shannon De Lima, Selita Ebanks, Swizz Beatz, Timbaland, Busta Rhymes, Pat Field, Charlotte Ronson, Brandon Davis, Charlie Walk, Jason Binn, Dani Stahl and Todd English. But Nicky Hilton wasn’t keen to be seen with three dwarves on the red carpet in skimpy Marie Antoinette costumes, telling a friend, “Oh, God. The midgets are coming. We’ve got to go.” One night-life expert called it “the best New York club opening we’ve seen in a long time.”
