Gavin DeGraw: I cried during ‘The Notebook’

Gavin DeGraw is a secret softie. The singer has a song on the soundtrack of the upcoming Nicholas Sparks film “Safe Haven,” and says he’s a big fan of the author’s work.

“I first saw ‘The Notebook’ when I was on a plane and it strongly changed my flight,” DeGraw tells Page Six. “I was like sitting there weeping my eyes out.”

And someday, he’d like to be in a film himself. “I’d love to act,” he reveals. “It’d be a really dreamy job. Everyone secretly wants to be an actor. And I think actors secretly want to be athletes.”

DeGraw is helping find a whole new generation of undiscovered talent through the Folgers Jingle Contest, which kicks off on January 22. Fans can submit their own version of the classic coffee ditty for a chance to win $25,000.

“I was undiscovered at one point myself and doing everything possible to have someone check me out,” he says. “This could be a wonderful platform. Hopefully I can be the motivation and inspiration for someone.”
