Rogers wishes TomKat the best

Tom Cruise’s first wife, Mimi Rogers, told us at the premiere of her movie “Hope Springs” that she’s no longer in close contact with the “Mission: Impossible” star. But, she said she wishes her ex the best in his latest, most dramatic split from Katie Holmes. “I think it’s hard for anybody, and I hope they are both doing well. I really do,” said Rogers, who married Cruise in 1987 and stayed with him for three years. She’s now wed to producer Chris Ciaffa. When we asked if she’s been regularly in touch with Cruise, she said, “You know, not really. It’s always been great if we do run into each other.” As far as her own theory on relationships, Rogers said, “The grass always looks greener on the other side . . . but it’s always just grass.” In “Hope Springs,” Rogers plays a neighbor of Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones, an aging couple who are trying to keep romance alive through marriage counseling from Steve Carell. Executive producer Steve Tisch told us that even though Jeff Bridges had originally been cast in Jones’ role, “This is going to open a whole new opportunity for romantic leads for Tommy Lee . . . He’s going to become a sex symbol.” Guests at the SVA Theatre premiere included Stanley Tucci and Felicity Blunt, Sony’s Amy Pascal and Michael Lynton and — appropriately enough for a movie about spicing up a marriage — Dr. Ruth Westheimer.
