Bagatelle co-owner Remi Laba was arrested at the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport on Thursday — over a jar of truffle paste. Sources said the downtown restaurateur was en route to St. Maarten from New York, with a layover in North Carolina, carrying a glass jar of truffle paste in his carry-on. We’re told Laba cleared his bag through JFK’s security with no problem, but in Charlotte, security officers told him he couldn’t fly with what they considered a “liquid.” Laba grew frustrated, not wanting to miss his connecting flight, and offered to leave his entire bag at the terminal. Officers refused, but Laba tried to leave the bag anyway, and took off for the gate — and cops booked him for resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. He was released hours later after posting a $400 bond, and he had to book another flight. A frustrated Laba tweeted: @usairways you guys offer the worse customer service in the world! Time to wake up and cater to the frequent flyer.” A Charlotte-Mecklenburg police spokesman confirmed Laba’s arrest. His rep had no comment.
