The spectacular clash between the two “American Idol” divas spilled over onto social media yesterday after Nicki Minaj unloaded insults to fellow judge Mariah Carey via Twitter.
Minaj referenced rumors that “Idol” execs were seeking to replace Carey with Jennifer Lopez. She also called Carey “bitter” and “insecure.”
Her rant came after Carey pointed out on Wednesday’s edition of “Idol” that the “Starships” rapper never had a single go No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100. (The two have 44 Hot 100 hits each, but Minaj never had a track higher than No. 3.)
In a series of tweets to gossip blogger Perez Hilton, Minaj wrote, “Bwaha! Burn? Shes sad i tied her record for Hot 100 entries in only 3 years of being in the game. Yep, a black female rapper”.
“All dem #1s but JLo phone ringin? Lol. I guess having a personality, being a secure woman, and giving genuine critique still trumps that,” she continued.
After some Twitter backlash, Minaj then posted, “Asking why a woman SO successful at her age, is still so INSECURE, and bitter”.
Carey has not responded to Minaj’s taunts. The two have been waging verbal war since they signed on to judge the Fox singing competition.
