One particularly interesting New York Times wedding announcement this past weekend was that of its tech columnist David Pogue and Nicole Dugan, a vice president at technology public-relations firm Outcast Agency. Pogue and Dugan’s relationship, which began after Pogue split from his first wife, Jennifer, was criticized two years ago by some observers who felt Pogue was writing about companies she represented. Pogue’s split from his ex was also rocky — the two were charged with disorderly conduct after a loud argument in May 2011 at their Connecticut home turned physical. Charges were eventually dropped, and by August 2012, Pogue proposed to Dugan via a fake movie trailer based on their relationship. When asked about the announcement, a Times rep told us: “The Times publishes wedding announcements that editors believe will be of interest to readers.” Indeed it was. Congratulations.
