Who knew that the Kardashians could be an inspiration?
Emma Watson told Cannes Film Festival reporters that she was inspired by reality stars for her party girl character, Nicki, in her upcoming film, “The Bling Ring.”
“I watched a lot of ‘[Keeping Up with the] Kardashians’ and a lot of Paris [Hilton] and a lot of ‘The Hills,’ and I tried to understand the psychology of this kind of girl as much as possible,” the “Harry Potter” actress said at the films’ premiere.
She added, “I didn’t want her to be just a parody. The accent was hard as it was a particular kind of dialect. I also thought a lot about what her parents must have been like.”
The Sofia Coppola film follows the bizarre but true story of a group of fame-obsessed teens who tracked down and pocketed items from the homes of Lindsay Lohan, Orlando Bloom, Rachel Bilson and Paris Hilton from 2008 to 2009.
Watson also defended the real-life perpetrators, “This really isn’t a heist movie. It was about how these kids wanted to pretend for just two hours or so that they were actually Paris Hilton and living that life.”
