Jets coach Rex Ryan, who dropped so much weight after Lap-Band surgery he inspired Chris Christie to have the operation, called the New Jersey governor to offer his advice. “I told him the big thing is to make sure you get the right surgeon,” Ryan, who used to weigh 348 pounds, told us at a BTIG Commissions for Charity event, noting they both saw Dr. George Fielding at NYU. “And to get follow-up care,” Ryan added. “If he stays on top of it, he’ll do great. I’m down 115 pounds. I’m sure it’ll work for him. At times [it’s rough] until you really learn how the band works. But once you figure it out, it’s smooth sailing . . . you can eat any food you want. It just trains your body, as I say, to eat like a human.”
