Fashion and fur designer Dennis Basso stepped in as emcee after Martha Stewart was stricken with the flu and was unable to host Wednesday’s Silver Hill Hospital gala. Basso joked to the crowd at Cipriani 42nd Street, “I am not quite Martha Stewart, but I do like cooking and gardening.” The New Canaan, Conn., hospital treats those struggling with mental illness and addiction, and Basso’s husband, Michael Cominotto, created the fund-raiser to help fund scholarships for young adults to get treatment at Silver Hill. Guests at the bash, which raised nearly $1 million and honored Neil Sedaka, who performed to a standing ovation, included Tamara Mellon, Jamie Tisch, Coco Rocha, Joan Collins and Marisa Brown.
