Stevie Nicks defends KStew: ‘I was her age once’

Kristen Stewart faced much backlash for cheating on her boyfriend Robert Pattinson with married director Rupert Sanders this past July, but Stevie Nicks thinks the actress deserves a break.

“I was her age once, and exactly what happened to her happened to me two or three times, and whoever it was that I was with forgave me all two or three times,” the Fleetwood Mac singer told Us Weekly.

The legendary rock icon’s own romantic life was put under the magnifying lens in her youth – her complicated relationship with band mate Lindsey Buckingham inspired their hit 1977 album “Rumours.”

Nicks, who is friends with the “Twilight” duo, continued to the magazine, “The fact is that when you’re young and you’ve been in a relationship for a long time and something comes along that is a little bit overwhelming and magical, and you’re kind of in another situation with someone else . . . Things happen.”

The 64-year-old thinks that critics should go easy on the 22-year-old starlet. “I really always want to say to people, ‘People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.’ It’s not anything the rest of us haven’t done.”

She thinks that if Rob and Kristen are strong enough, they can move past the scandal. “If what they have is that special they can overcome it, then good for [them],” she said.
