With “Motown” on Broadway, the venerable R&B label’s stable of stars has been hitting the town: Smokey Robinson, 73, was spotted at Meatpacking District hot spot Catch after seeing the show this week. The “Tears of a Clown” crooner has apparently still got it, since he was seated at “the best table in the house.” The singer was overheard telling “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson and Chace Crawford’s manager Eric Podwall that he’s shopping around for collaborators on his yet-to-be-named duet album. Appropriately enough, oldies played through the seafood mecca’s soundsystem — and Robinson educated his server on which of the many various hits he’d actually written.
