Fashion designer Arnold Scaasi and his longtime boyfriend Parker Ladd were a ubiquitous fixture on the social scene until two years ago, when they vanished without a trace.
The two — who had been planning to get married on their 50th anniversary together — were hospitalized simultaneously, and they still haven’t completely recovered.
“They were in Palm Beach, and Parker slipped on some steps and banged his head. He was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital. Then Arnold was so so upset, he became hysterical and collapsed with heart trouble,” a friend said.
Scaasi (Isaacs spelled backward) has dressed four First Ladies as well as Lauren Bacall, Catherine Deneuve and Ivana Trump. Ladd worked with Literacy Volunteers and brought authors to Palm Beach to meet with readers over breakfasts at the Brazilian Court hotel.
The couple’s marriage plans have been put on hold. When I called them, their housekeeper said they didn’t want to talk.
