Dori Cooperman steps on artwork in Miami

New York socialite Dori Cooperman’s designer heels nearly made their mark on Miami’s art scene. Haute Living diarist Cooperman accidentally trod on a work of art laid out on the floor at Miami’s “Piston Head” exhibition at Adam Lindemann’s innovative Venus Over Manhattan gallery. Cooperman stepped in her Charlotte Olympia heels on a rubbing of a Ferrari on canvas by LA–based artist Joshua Callaghan, who created the work at the opening party by draping the canvas over the Ferrari supercar and taking a rubbing. The work was later put on the floor of the Lincoln Road exhibition. Never one to miss a sale, Lindemann insisted that Cooperman bid on the Callaghan work, which was being auctioned. She told us, “I placed a bid, but I don’t know if I’ve won the auction yet. Thankfully I didn’t do any damage, but next time I’ll tread more carefully.” Mega-collector-turned-gallerist Lindemann said, “I love car shows and I love art . . . So I thought, Why not make an art-car show?” His auto sculptures include a Dodge Challenger custom painted by Richard Prince, a Buick sedan painted by Keith Haring, and a vintage Mini Cooper covered with a Damien Hirst spot-painting.
