Film festival to honor Holt McCallany

A film festival kicking off Dec. 6 will be a knockout: The Shadow Box festival at Chelsea’s SVA Theater honors movies focusing on boxing. The two-day event will offer 24 films including “The Gentleman Prizefighter,” about heavyweight “Gentleman Jim” Corbett, narrated by Liam Neeson, and “Return,” an animated short created by 26-year-old Iranian Yahya Ghobadi. Holt McCallany, who played an aging boxer on canceled FX show “Lights Out,” will receive a lifetime achievement award from organizers. Guests expected at the festivities include “Rocky” actor Burt Young, retired heavyweight boxer Michael Bentt, who played Sonny Liston in “Ali,” and “Entourage” star Kevin Connolly.
