The eighth annual Kelly Gang fund-raiser, run by notable Kellys including NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly, former US special envoy to Northern Ireland Declan Kelly, and The Post’s Media Ink columnist Keith Kelly, got off to a fiery start Wednesday night at Michael’s in Midtown. As American Express Publishing CEO Ed Kelly was about to introduce the Top Cop to the audience, his speech notes burst into flames after they were placed too close to a candle on a table. The notes were quickly doused with water, and the AmEx honcho managed to use the salvaged and singed parts to bring on the Commish, who was presenting a plaque to beneficiary City Harvest. Declan Kelly presented a plaque to the Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute, which lobbies on behalf of human and adoption rights. The Kelly Gang, which has raised more than $500,000 for charity, was named by legendary former Post columnist Steve Dunleavy, who caught one of their early St. Patrick’s lunches at Langan’s on West 47th.
