Amy Winehouse’s dad, Mitch, took a dig at Mayor
Bloomberg at Thursday’s Amy Winehouse Foundation gala at the Waldorf-Astoria, saying, “That’s a wonderful dedication. Would’ve been better if you sent $10 million, but you know a nice little thing in a plaque is very much appreciated.” (Bloomberg wasn’t there.) Mitch then thanked sponsors, “because I am contractually obligated to do so or they won’t give me the money.” After misplacing the physical awards, something labeled a “cock-up” by Amy’s brother Alex, the event proceeded more smoothly with stellar performances by Jennifer Hudson and Tony Bennett. Later, emotions ran high as Terry Casey Presents hosted an after-party at DL. Mark Ronson, who collaborated with Winehouse on her album “Back to Black,” headlined alongside The Smiths’ Andy Rourke. Casey told us, “It was a fantastic night with the DL full to hear Mark, Amy’s very great friend and producer. He played an emotional tribute to her at the end of a great set by playing ‘Valerie,’ the song they covered together for his second album. Mark was heard telling Mitch how much he misses her, as we all do.”
