Obama look-alike bedevils ‘Bible’

Mark Burnett, producer of TV hit “The Bible,” tried some biblical spin to avoid talking about the controversy over an actor who plays Satan in the miniseries supposedly resembling President Obama. “No. No! We just want to spread the light,” Burnett, when asked about Satan, said at Tuesday night’s History Channel party for the series and a gallery of biblical artifacts called “The Bible Experience.” “I think everybody should be hashtagging Jesus,” he told us. “Hashtag Jesus! Let’s bring some light and get rid of the dark.” Roma Downey — Burnett’s wife, who co-stars in the show and was a producer — jumped in when her husband was asked whether he thought cast member Mohamed Mehdi Ouazzani looked like Obama. “Let’s not talk about Satan,” she quickly said. “Let’s talk about the Lord . . . It’s God’s timing. The whole world is discussing faith and God, and we’re so encouraged by this new pope.” A TV insider told us, “Mark and Roma are totally freaked about this Obama controversy. Their goal is just not to talk about it. They want it to go away.” Meanwhile, Diogo Morgado, who plays Jesus in the series and has been getting Twitter love as “#hotjesus,” told us he thinks the controversy is “hilarious.” The network has released a statement saying it has “the highest respect for [Obama]” and, “It’s unfortunate that anyone made this false connection.”
