Putin refutes Kraft’s Super Bowl ring story: report

Ring-a-ding-ding!

A spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin refuted New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft’s claims that the politician stole his Super Bowl ring in 2005, according to CNN.

As previously reported by Page Six, Kraft discussed the ring theft at a Thursday awards gala.

“I took out the ring and showed it to [Putin], and he put it on and he goes, ‘I can kill someone with this ring,'” Kraft told the crowd at Carnegie Hall’s Medal of Excellence gala at the Waldorf-Astoria.”I put my hand out and he put it in his pocket, and three KGB guys got around him and walked out.”

Kraft says he later tried to get the ring back, but White House officials urged him to consider the ring a gift, with the 4.94-carat bauble representing the “best interest of US-Soviet relations.”

Putin’s spokesman is telling a different story.

“What Mr. Kraft is saying now is weird,” Dmitry Peskov told CNN. “I was standing 20 centimeters away from him and Mr. Putin and saw and heard how Mr. Kraft gave this ring as a gift.”

Gift or not, the ring remains in the Kremlin library.
