Male director crashes Women A.R.E Summit

Hollywood director and producer Brian Grazer personally delivered close pal Chelsea Handler to Angella Nazarian and Beth Friedman’s inaugural Women A.R.E. Summit in Beverly Hills Thursday for her presentation before 300 notable women — and one man: Grazer stuck around to listen.

Handler regaled the crowd, which included Elaine Wynn and Lauren Taschen, with the story of her struggle to make it as an actress as well as nuggets of advice. She told the group, “There’s room for everyone, make room for yourself. You can do something that no one else can. You can create the job.”

Chelsea’s final anecdote: “One time I was on a plane and someone was laughing really hard and really loud and I asked the person I was with to please tell them to be quiet, I just wanted to sleep — ‘I can’t do it. I’m famous.’ The funny part was, it turned out the woman was reading my book.”

Panelists included Sharon Stone, Wallis Annenberg, Abigail Disney, Willow Bay, Barbara Guggenheim and Dermalogica founder Jane Wurwand.
