Katharine McPhee caught kissing her married ‘Smash’ director

Like a storyline directly from her NBC show, married actress Katharine McPhee has been pictured in Hollywood kissing her former “Smash” director Michael Morris — who is also married.

McPhee, 29, has been married to producer Nick Cokas, 47, since 2008. The pair met while performing in Los Angeles, and McPhee once called Cokas “The love of my life.”

But according to reports the pair — who have no children — had an amiable split and have been living apart since spring.

“They’ve been separated for six months,” a friend is quoted as saying in Life & Style magazine. “Nick continues to co-manage her music.”

Morris’ spouse is actress Mary McCormack, 44, with whom he has three young daughters aged 2, 6 and 9, according to gossip Web site TMZ.

McCormack is best known for playing the wife of Howard Stern in the shock jock’s 1997 movie “Private Parts.”

The canoodling couple have seemingly pulled their love scene straight from the script “Smash,” a drama about Broadway that was canceled by NBC in the spring after two seasons.

On the show, which last ended in June, McPhee’s character, Karen Cartwright, had a fling with her show’s director, Derek Wills, played by Jack Davenport.

While it is clear McPhee’s marriage is on the rocks, the status of Morris’ marriage is unknown, according to TMZ.

Both McPhee and McCormack, whose NBC show, “Welcome to the Family,” was recently canceled, were silent on Twitter yesterday after the kissing pictures appeared online.
