Iconic British author Barbara Taylor Bradford is selling $2 million of her jewels to create a nest egg for two distant relatives.

The New York-based novelist is auctioning off gems, including a 14-carat diamond ring and Harry Winston earrings, at Bonhams in London in December.

Barbara, 80, who has sold more than 88 million books, told us, “My husband, Bob, would buy me jewels for every birthday, anniversary, every book, and every movie he [produced]. It is all kept in a safe, and many of the pieces I haven’t worn for a while.”

Declining to name the heirs who will benefit, she said, “I’d rather they enjoy the proceeds now. I am absolutely not thinking about dying. I’ll be out to dinner in New York in my pearls just as often, as usual.”
