Nick Carter: Paris’ drug use a ‘terrible influence’

Backstreet Boy Nick Carter has opened up about his relationship with Paris Hilton, declaring that she was a “terrible influence” when it came to his substance abuse.

“Paris was the worst person in the world for me to hook up with,” Carter says in excerpts from his new memoir, Facing the Music and Living to Talk About It.

Carter, now 33, said that Paris (who was caught with cocaine three years ago), “fed my worst impulses as far as partying” during the time they were in a relationship between 2003 and 2004.

“I could’ve ended up a tragedy,” Carter said, adding that “during the height of my problems, I did ecstasy, cocaine and drank a large bottle of vodka a night.”

Carter, who’s been sober the past five years after a decade of heavy drug and alcohol abuse, said his biggest regret was the amount of ecstasy he took.

“The amount I did caused changes to my brain that are responsible for my bouts of depression now,” he said.
