Oprah cleaning house before big birthday bash

Oprah Winfrey is already getting ready to celebrate her 60th birthday in January at her Montecito, Calif., estate.

Us Weekly reports that Beyoncé and Tina Turner may perform, and the guest list could include Julia Roberts, John Travolta and Tom Cruise.

According to Montecito Journal columnist Richard Mineards, the talk show titan is staging the sale of the century to clear out her 23,000-square-foot mansion for a major makeover in preparation for her big birthday bash. Montecito reports she has hired top designer Rose Tarlow to do the extensive renovation of the $82 million 42-acre estate. But the place has a lot of furniture, carpets, rugs and other decorations Winfrey no longer needs, and Beverly Hills-based Kaminski Auctions has been hired to sell Oprah’s unwanted possessions in a mammoth tented auction at the Santa Barbara Polo Club on Nov. 2.

Observed Mineards, “It will be like the Jackie O Sotheby’s auction in New York in 1996. A major feeding frenzy!”
