“Letters to Jackie” — a new film based on the book by Ellen Fitzpatrick — will premiere Tuesday at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston.

The site of the screening is where Fitzpatrick researched the tome, and where the letters of the film’s title are archived. The movie by Bill Couturié features stars including Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Octavia Spencer, Channing Tatum and Michelle Williams reading 20 of the more than 800,000 condolence letters sent to Jacqueline Kennedy after JFK’s assassination.

Said Spencer of the film, which casts light on JFK’s legacy, including his role in the civil-rights movement: “I was born and raised in Alabama. I thought I knew everything there is about the civil-rights movement. But [this film] taught me things I didn’t know.”

The film’s premiere will be simulcast in theaters around the country by Emerging Pictures.

Producer Christy Scott Cashman told Page Six, “The actors brought a whole other, nuanced  level to [each of the letters] that were written by real people.” The film will also be shown by TLC.
