Disney star’s reason for working as barista

Former teen heartthrob Dylan Sprouse, who starred with his twin brother, Cole, on the hit Disney series “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody,” is now working at a coffee shop in the East Village. But he’s not there because he’s broke, friends say — he’s working on a screenplay. The moppy-haired blond twins at one point were the highest-paid teen actors on TV, earning a reported $40,000 per episode on “Suite Life.” But more recently, Dylan, who’s enrolled at NYU, has been working as a host at Mudspot on East Ninth Street. When Dylan, 21, was photographed last week working at the eatery, the blogosphere assumed he was just another destitute former child star. So Dylan tried explaining on his Tumblr feed: “I did not take this job because I ‘lost all my money,’ I am financially secure, and took this job as a way to primarily feed my over- bountiful video-game addiction.” But we’re told the real reason he’s working at the java joint is because he’s working on a movie script. “He’s doing it Cameron Crowe-style, [from personal experience],” a source told us.
