‘The Interview’ scales down NY premiere in wake of hacking

In the wake of the massive hack attack on Sony possibly provoked by its Kim Jong-un assassination comedy “The Interview,” the studio will launch a scaled down New York premiere Thursday.

But don’t expect any Pyongyang-themed party.

The screening will be small for a major studio debut: We hear that stars James Franco, Seth Rogen and Randall Park (who plays the North Korean dictator) will pose for photos but not speak to the press.

Instead of an after-party, there will be a 6 p.m. reception at an LES bar before the showing at Sunshine Cinema.

Sony beefed up security at an intimate LA premiere at the Ace Hotel last week, which went off without incident.

Expected guests in New York include 50 Cent, Marina Abramovic, Taran Killam, Jemima Kirke and Judah Friedlander. Black Velvet whiskey will sponsor.

Before its Christmas Day release, the controversial movie’s received scathing reviews from Hollywood’s trades — Variety calls it “cinematic waterboarding.” But bloggers have been more generous with odes like “gutsy, outrageous.”
